Atlantic Methanol Turnaround Planning Support

CLIENT: Atlantic Methanol

OWNER: Atlantic Methanol Production Co.

PROJECT MANAGER: Josh Crawford

LOCATION: Equatorial Guinea, West Africa

Atlantic Methanol operates a significant natural gas to methanol plant on the island of Malabo in Equatorial Guinea, West Africa.

The plant produces in excess of 1,000,000 metric tons of methanol per year, or just greater than 1% the global market. With its location in the Atlantic Basin, AMPCO is strategically located to supply markets in the Americas, Europe, and Asia.

This plant makes use of natural gas that would otherwise be flared to produce methanol.

SMW Projects, Inc. was invited to provide support for turnaround planning for the annual plant outage and turnaround.

The reformers were inspected and procedures were developed that could save significant effort and time, potentially saving up to two days on the turnaround of the reformers.

Additional inputs helped to ensure that the turnaround went safely, smoothly, and efficiently.
